There are 2 elements per 9" high section.
In an 18" high kiln (JD23 & JD23-3), there are 4 elements.
In a 27" high kiln (JD230 & JD230-3), there are 6 elements.
In a 36" high kiln (JD236 & JD236-3), there are 8 elements.
In a 45" high kiln (JD245 & JD245-3), there are 10 elements.
All elements are of equal resistance (ohms).
When changing elements, you should look at your element terminals and consider changing all of the hardware if there is any oxidation. You will get a 50% discount on the terminal hardware if you order a complete set of elements. The terminal hardware set for this kiln is here.
