How do I know which kilns have element circuits wired in series and which are wired in parallel?

  1. Mostly you just have to remember how each kiln is wired or look at the wire diagram. Usually in series elements the wire is big and fat, and in parallel elements they are thin.

  1. If you have 220 volts and 3 phase power available, the kiln will come with a 3-wire powerblock for the 3 hot wires that give the 3 phase.

Why can't you get a Dura-Fire kiln in a 3-phase version?

The Dura-Fire kilns are designed to have all power turned off by the Kiln Sitter/Time. These have a two-pole contactor that can only shut off single phase power.

  1. The J18, J23 and J2918 control panels all come with three-zone capability.

Do I need a separate electrical line for my kiln?

  1. We recommend that you install your kiln on a separate line coming out of your main electrical box.
