Sculpture

When it comes to ceramic sculpture, the kiln is usually configured to suit the artists scale and process. There are unlimited ways of achieving your end results with ceramic sculpture. As an artist you establish your own methods to convey your message.

Challenges

Ceramic sculpture usually requires special loading considerations. The pieces are large and delicate and are very difficult to get into a kiln. Likewise, the thicker the ceramic is the more involved the firing process will have to be. Some firings may last days to prevent the explosion of the piece.

Market

The market for ceramic sculpture crosses into the mainstream art market. It is never easy to make a name for yourself in any major market but if you are able to the benefits are worth the work.

Kilns

L&L has three solutions to the special challenges presented by ceramic sculpture work that set us apart from other companies. We manufacture front-loading kilns, bell-lift kilns and pull-apart kilns. Slow and even firing is another requirement. This will require the kiln to use a DynaTrol with zone control and Vary-Fire programming capability.
