- This option includes a Dawson Sitter/Timer.
- This breaks the common of the contactors so that all contactors are turned off if the Dawson Sitter shuts off.
- The typical operation is to put a cone in the Dawson that is one to two cones higher than what you will be firing to.
- The Dawson will provide an extra measure of security by being there to shut off the kiln in the event that the automatic control fails to shut off properly.
- Some people use this as the final control device. They set the program control to fire higher than the cone they put in the Dawson.
- If you do not want to use the timer it can be easily disconnected from the circuit.
- Available for Jupiter & DaVinci automatic kilns.
- The price is $475
NOTE ABOUT TIMER:
Having the timer is another back up system. However, In some cases the Dawson Kiln-sitter/timer will interfere with the operation of the Dynatrol Controller. Specifically the hour Timer on the Dawson only goes up to 20 hours. Often it is desirable to run the kiln for longer than 20 hours, or to use the Delayed Start feature in the DynaTrol, making it necessary to reset the timer every 20 hours. You can easily disconnect the wires to the timer to prevent it from timing out if this is an issue with how you are going to use this back up system.
CAUTION: Any kiln can still overfire. It is advised that an operator should be present when the kiln is supposed to shut off.
